MS Lofoten

MS Lofoten was built at the erstwhile Akers Mekaniske Verksted at Oslo and is presently the oldest vessel serving the Hurtigruten. Launched in 1963 she resumed operation on the Hurtigruten for VDS in March 1964.
Lofoten and her two near sisters, Kong Olav and Nordnorge (scrapped), were built to the same basic design based on Harald Jarl of 1960. Harald Jarl is still operating as expedition cruise ship Serenissima - there is a nice video of both sisters sailing together @ YouTube. Plans to use Kong Olav as an hotel/dive ship in Thailand never came to fruition.
