Monarch of the Seas

Monarch of the Seas was the second of three groundbreaking ships built at Chantiers de l'Atlantique St. Nazaire for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. She was renamed Monarch when operating for Pullmantur from 2013 - 2020.
In 1998 Monarch of the Seas struck a reef while leaving St. Maarten and was intentionally run aground. See this joint report of the U.S. Coast Guard and the Norwegian Maritime Investigator. Photos and postcards of Monarch of the Seas are found at Simplon postcards.
A review of Monarch of the Seas is available at www.cruisepage.com.
François Zanella has built a model of the sister ship Majesty of the Seas which is of rather unusual dimensions.
The ship was beached at Aliaga, Turkey for scrapping on the 22nd of July 2020.
